Danish artists and curators can apply for a stay from January - May and August - December in Istanbul, where the Committee for International Visual Art established a new residency in spring 2006. The program recognizes Istanbul’s growing importance on the global art scene and its central position – culturally, politically and artistically – with strong ties to Europe, the Balkans, Asia and the Middle East. In recent years, the Istanbul Biennial, to be held for the tenth time in 2007, has been emerging as one of the world’s premier art events – and a sign of Istanbul’s burgeoning contemporary art scene.
The studio and residency in Istanbul come with a monthly working grant of 750 euros.
