Curator Visiting Program

On behalf of the Danish Arts Councils Committee for International Visual art, The Visual Arts Centre oversees the international visitors program, under which international curators and museum professionals are invited to Denmark to research future exhibitions and projects.

The aim of the program, which usually runs for around five days, is enabling curators to become acquainted with Danish contemporary art. This creates opportunities for forming network relationships between Danish artists and institutions and representatives of the international art scene. Visitors will generally have opportunities to travel to Denmark and get an overall impression of the Danish contemporary art scene.

Our visitors are actively engaged in organizing biennials, group and solo exhibitions and other significant international manifestations. Meanwhile, the Visual Arts Centre also invites other art professionals, including younger curators and critics representing new growth layers and grassroots. The Visual Arts Centre sometimes receives direct inquiries from curators who have heard about the visitors program and are planning exhibitions or other activities involving Danish artists. A number of these inquiries result in actual visits.

We aim to design programs that are as diverse as possible. Some visitors wish to meet with specific artists, others have special wishes about art, galleries and institutions they would like to know more about. Visitor’s programs are designed accordingly and always in close dialogue with the visitors. When a visit by a curator is confirmed, it is posted here on the webpage.
