Residency for visual artists and curators
Capacete
The Danish Arts Council’s Committee for International Visual Art has expanded its residency in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a residency in São Paulo. The local partner for both residencies is Capacete, a dynamic and well connected institution that houses artists from all over the world and collaborates with various international partners.
In agreement with Capacete it is possible to split the residency into a period in Rio de Janeiro and a period in São Paulo.
Residency in 2011
Danish visual artists can apply for a four-month residency and curators can apply for a two-month residency in the period between March-December 2011. The exact period will be settled in dialogue with Capacete once the residents are selected.
The residencies come with a monthly grant of DKK 7.500. Travel costs are supported with DKK 5.000.

Accommodation
In both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo the residents are accommodated in their own room in a shared apartment. The apartments including kitchen and restroom facilities are shared with 2-3 other residents in both cities.
Rio de Janeiro: The resident will be staying in the centrally located neighbourhood Glória close to the Glória metro. Wireless internet, access to a shared computer, weekly cleaning and washing machine is included. The shared space in the apartment is sometimes used for talks, events etc.
São Paulo: The resident will be staying on the 22nd floor in the COPAN building which is designed by Oscar Niemeyer and is centrally located close to the República metro. Wireless internet, access to a shared computer, weekly cleaning and washing machine is included.
