Residency in Mexico City
In collaboration with its Mexican counter-part, ‘Patronato de Arte Contemporaneo’ (PAC), the Danish Arts Council's Committee for International Visual Art has established a new residency programme for Danish artists and curators in Mexico City.
On the basis of applications received, the Danish Arts Council's Committee for International Visual Art will appoint two to three candidates for the residence visit. The final selection will take place in Mexico in consultation with PAC.
The resident will be offered a visit of two months’ duration and will be housed in a centrally located and completely renovated one-room apartment with wireless Internet. The artists’ house, Casa Vecina, is located close by with access to computer and other facilities. It is part of the agreement that the resident may use the facilities of Casa Vecina.
The residency comes with a monthly working grant of DKK 7.500,- as well as a return fare to Mexico City.
During the visit, there will be a local contact person, who can introduce the resident to the Mexican contemporary art scene and also help set up contacts with museums, galleries, artists, curators, etc. In addition, the resident will have the opportunity, during the visit, to become part of a new project house run by artists, which PAC is about to open in Mexico City in collaboration with a number of artists from abroad.
Applications are invited for two months’ visit in the period September to December. The application must be written in English and include samples of works, CV, and an account of the purpose of the visit.
