Residency at Townhouse Gallery
Two Danish artists are offered a four-month residency in Cairo in January-April or September-December 2011. Townhouse Gallery provides lodging and studio as well as participation in their curator visiting programmes, excursions and lectures.
Townhouse Gallery
Townhouse Gallery is a renowned independent exhibition space for contemporary art and has a vast programme of visual art, performance, film screening, music and artist talks. Townhouse is located in central Cairo and emphasizes a close interaction with the local environment.
The residency comes with a monthly grant of USD 600 plus a one-off grant for production expenses of USD 2000.
Application
Candidates are appointed by the Danish Arts Council’s Committee for International Visual Art and sent to Townhouse for final selection. Priority is given to proposals rooted in an interest in the resources, both material and human, that urban Cairo may avail to artists.
Applications must be in English. Only Danish artists / artists located in Denmark can apply.
